Over the years, Lynn Panting Dance has taken on a variety of creative projects: some small, some experimental, and some that quietly planted seeds for what came next. While these initiatives may not have an ongoing presence at the studio, they continue to reflect the values that guide our work: accessibility, creativity, and community connection. The Legacy Projects series offers a space to revisit and share these moments.
We Dance High, Low, Fast & Slow
We Dance High, Low, Fast & Slow is a children’s book created to share the joy of movement with young readers—wherever they are. Written by Lynn Panting and illustrated by Jessie Meyer, the book invites readers to move in all kinds of ways: high and low, fast and slow, sitting, standing, and everything in between.
The idea grew out of the early days of the pandemic, when it became clear how important it was to find new ways to connect through dance, especially for those without access to studios or even reliable internet.
Drawing on exercises from Lynn’s original Wee Dance program, the book offers a simple, low-barrier way to explore creative movement.
The project took shape over two years and launched with a celebration at Lynn Panting Dance in October 2022. It was a small step toward a bigger goal: helping more children feel that dance is for them.
