Eli and the Death Curse

Over the years, Lynn Panting Dance has grown through bold ideas, inclusive programs, and creative experiments. Some of these initiatives are one-time events or limited-run projects that don’t live on our main pages—but they’ve left a meaningful mark. We’re proud to share them here in our Legacy Projects series: a home for the moments, movements, and milestones that continue to shape who we are.

A timeless fairytale for a modern audience, Eli and the Death Curse was written by Phillip Goodridge and directed by Lynn Panting for Untellable Movement Theatre in 2022. Designed as a conversation starter for youth and their families, the production explored themes of identity, mental health, grief, and loss with care and imagination.

Created with young audiences in mind, the show approached complex topics with honesty and empathy. Lynn’s understanding of and respect for children as full, feeling people helped shape the tone of the production and ensured the material was both accessible and meaningful.

Eli and the Death Curse served as a reminder that theatre can do more than entertain—it can reflect, question, and connect. It’s an example of how performance can bridge the gap between art and education, making space for big conversations in a supportive and creative setting.
