Play music—kids dance, pause music—kids freeze

Make it more interactive and engaging by giving rules:

During this dance incorporate a specific move of dance technique (skips, hops, a balance, a plié, retiré, etc)

During this freeze, you are going to freeze on the floor, freeze with a silly face, etc.

Backwards Freeze Dance

Play music—kids stay frozen, pause music—kids dance

Use the ideas from freeze dance to help kids.

Scarf Prop Activities

1) Explore dance concepts with the scarf (size, direction, place, speed, etc)

2) Pretend to be different animals and move in different ways with scarf

3) Counting game—sit in tight semi circle.  Count as a group to a certain number.  I recommend starting with 3 and each time go up by 1.  Throw the scarves in the air when you get to the number.
