Your Back-to-Class Checklist

The start of a new dance season is almost here! Whether you're returning to LPD or joining us for the first time, a little preparation can make that first week back much easier.

Here’s your back-to-class checklist:

☐ Check Your Dance Shoes

Feet grow!

Shoes (magically) disappear!

Before the first class, have your dancer try on all of their dance shoes.

Make sure they still fit comfortably and are in good enough condition for another season.

☐ Try On Your Dancewear

The same goes for bodysuits, tights, dance pants, and other class clothing.

Not sure what they need? You can find the full dress code on our website.

☐ Pack (and Label) Your Dance Bag

Get everything together before the season begins: dance shoes, a water bottle, hair supplies, and anything else your dancer regularly needs.

☐ Review Your Schedule

Double-check class days and times before the first week.

☐ Start Getting Back Into Your Routine

Summer schedules and school-year schedules can look very different.

As September approaches, start thinking about how dance fits alongside school, meals, homework, sleep, and downtime.

☐ Bookmark Your LPD Resources

Our website has two pages worth bookmarking for the year ahead.

For Families is your home base for the practical stuff: studio policies, dress code, newsletters, and other information you'll need throughout the year.

For Dancers is a space specifically for our students. You'll find information about studio etiquette, culture, and expectations, as well as ways to get more involved through our Leadership & Teaching Assistant Program and Performing Group. You can share what's on your mind through LPD Student Voice, find our on-demand merch, and access the dress code there too.

Bookmark the pages so you know where to look when a question comes up.

☐ Can't Find What You're Looking For? Ask Us.

Not sure whether those ballet shoes still fit?

Confused about what your dancer needs for jazz?

Wondering about something that isn't covered on the website?

Ask us.

☐ Get Excited

You don't need to spend the final weeks of summer trying to "get ready" for dance.

That's what class is for.

Come as you are, ready to move, learn, work, and see your dance community again.

We'll take it from there.
