Practice Makes Permanent: Why Consistency Matters
Our Body Remembers What We Repeat
As the dancers know, one of my catchphrases is that practice makes permanent.
By the time we step on stage, we’re not thinking through every movement. We’re relying on what has been practiced, over and over again.
That’s why consistency matters so much leading up to the recital.
When dancers miss classes they miss the repetition that builds confidence and ease. The work becomes less familiar, and that can feel uncomfortable.
When dancers are consistently in class, confidence grows, and the dance starts to feel like their own.
Consistency Builds Community
Another benefit of consistency is community. Dancers learn how they fit within a group. They develop awareness of spacing, timing, and one other. That sense of connection is something you can feel on stage, and it’s built week by week, year by year.
Set Yourself Up For Success
As we move closer to recital we’re refining, cleaning, and supporting dancers in feeling prepared and proud of their work.
The strongest way to support that process is simple: show up, consistently, and ready to work.
We’re excited for what’s coming, and we’re so proud of the work that’s already been done. These next few weeks are about settling into it, trusting it, and letting it grow.
