Studio Policies

At Lynn Panting Dance, our policies are designed to support a safe, focused, and respectful environment for all dancers. These guidelines help ensure clarity, consistency, and a positive experience for our entire community.

Studio Conduct

All dancers are expected to:

  • Treat instructors and peers with respect

  • Follow instructions and remain attentive in class

  • Maintain awareness of personal space

  • Contribute to a positive and supportive environment

Disruptive or unsafe behaviour may result in removal from class.

Attendance & Punctuality

  • Dancers are expected to arrive on time and ready to begin

  • Warm-up is an essential part of class and helps prevent injury

  • If a dancer arrives late, they should enter quietly and join when appropriate

  • Consistent attendance supports both individual progress and group work

Parent & Guardian Policy

  • Parents do not attend classes

  • Wee Dance dancers (ages 3–5) may have a parent/guardian present

  • This structure supports focus, safety, and dancer independence

Drop-Off & Pick-Up

  • Classes run on a tight schedule—please ensure dancers are dropped off and picked up on time

  • Dancers should arrive prepared, with all necessary items

  • Early drop-off is not available unless arranged in advance

Personal Belongings & Studio Care

  • Keep personal items organized and out of shared spaces

  • Label all belongings clearly

  • Clean up after yourself

  • Respect studio equipment and report any damage

Technology & Phones

We recognize that many dancers bring a phone to the studio so they can communicate with their family before or after class.

At LPD, however, we encourage dancers to unplug while they are with us. During breaks and free time, we ask that phones remain in bags unless they are needed to contact a parent or guardian.

This helps us create a welcoming community where dancers talk, play, and build friendships with one another. It also allows us to maintain an age-appropriate environment, as we have students of many different ages sharing our space and cannot reasonably monitor social media or online content.

If a dancer needs access to their phone during class for accessibility, medical, or other important reasons, simply let us know ahead of time. We're happy to work with families to support individual needs.

Health & Hygiene

  • Dancers should attend class in clean attire

  • Deodorant is encouraged for older dancers

  • Strong fragrances should be avoided

  • If a dancer is unwell, they should stay home

Fees & Payment

  • Tuition is due at the time of registration

  • For your convenience, the following payment options are available:

    • Annual payment

    • Term payments (three terms per year)

    • Monthly payment plan

Registration confirms your dancer’s place in the class for the season.

We ask families to commit thoughtfully at the time of registration.

Withdrawal

  • Written notice is required if a dancer withdraws

  • A $100 withdrawal fee will be applied

Communication

  • The website is the primary source of information

  • Important updates are shared via email and newsletter

  • Families are responsible for staying informed through these channels

Recital & Performance Commitment

Our annual recital is an important part of the LPD experience. It provides dancers with the opportunity to share their work and build confidence on stage.

  • Participation in the recital is expected for all dancers

  • Attendance at scheduled rehearsals and the recital is required

Recital Expectations

  • Dancers must attend all required rehearsals

  • Costumes, hair, and makeup must follow studio guidelines

  • Families are expected to review all recital information in advance

Additional recital details (including schedule, theatre expectations, and preparation) are shared separately on the Recital page.

Safety

  • Street shoes are not permitted in studio spaces

  • Food should remain in designated areas

  • Water bottles are encouraged

  • The studio remains locked to the public at all times

  • Entry is provided by a staff member or through our video doorbell system

We are committed to maintaining a space where all dancers feel safe, supported, and able to learn.
