Studio Etiquette

Alongside our shared culture, there are some simple practices that help keep classes running smoothly and respectfully for everyone in the room.

Punctuality & Entering Class

  • Arrive on time so you can fully participate in warm-up

  • If you are late or returning from the washroom, enter quietly and wait for an appropriate moment to join

  • Do not walk into class in the middle of an exercise

  • Take responsibility for your own readiness

Consistency & Attendance

Dance is a practice. Progress comes from showing up consistently.

  • Attend class regularly and commit to your training

  • If you need to miss a class, please email the studio in advance when possible

  • Take responsibility for catching up on missed material

Focus & Attentiveness

  • Listen actively to your teacher

  • Avoid side conversations during instruction

  • Save questions for appropriate moments so class can flow

Awareness of Space

  • Be aware of others moving around you

  • Maintain appropriate spacing across the floor and in centre work

  • Move with care to avoid collisions

Dress Code Maintenance

  • Arrive in proper dress code for your class

  • Maintain dress code throughout class (hair secured, appropriate footwear, no jewelry)

  • Take responsibility for staying prepared and presentation-ready

Personal Hygiene

  • Wear clean dancewear to class

  • Use deodorant

  • Avoid strong perfumes or fragrances

  • Maintain general cleanliness out of respect for shared space

We also have personal hygiene items available in the studio including toothbrushes, toothpaste, deodorant, and period products. These are available to all dancers, no questions asked.

Care for the Studio

We live by campsite rules: leave the space better than you found it.

  • Keep your belongings organized

  • Clean up after yourself

  • Return any equipment to its proper place

  • Be mindful of shared spaces and noise levels

  • Let a staff member know if something is damaged or out of place

Gratitude & Feedback

  • Thank your teacher and classmates at the end of class

  • Receive corrections with openness and a willingness to try

  • Stay engaged and positive in your work

A Final Note

When everyone takes responsibility for how they move through the space, the studio becomes a place where people can focus, grow, and feel good being there.
