Studio Star

Celebrating the many ways we contribute to our community

At LPD, we believe there are many ways to contribute to a dance class and a studio community.

Someone might be a thoughtful leader or a generous classmate. They might bring creativity, humour, focus, curiosity, or kindness into the room. They might be working incredibly hard at something that doesn't come easily to them. They might make a new dancer feel welcome, take a creative risk, offer encouragement, or quietly help make the studio a better place to be.

Studio Star is our way of noticing and celebrating those contributions.

Everyone brings something different

Our dancers have different backgrounds, experiences, personalities, bodies, interests, and strengths. We don't expect everyone to excel in the same way, and we don't believe that one person's success takes anything away from someone else's.

Studio Star gives dancers, families, teachers, and staff an opportunity to recognize something they see in another member of the LPD community.

It isn't about choosing the "best" dancer. Technical achievement might be something worth celebrating, but so are persistence, growth, creativity, leadership, generosity, courage, and the countless small ways people support one another.

Nominate a Studio Star

Anyone in the LPD community can submit a nomination: dancers, teaching assistants, teachers, staff, and dance families.

Tell us who you noticed and what you noticed about them.

Twice each year, we'll share some of these nominations with the studio community and add our Studio Stars to the Recognition Wall.

Studio Star is one small way we practice something that matters deeply to us: paying attention to one another, recognizing different strengths, and remembering that everyone has something to contribute.
